Our Compass Rose Star began with an antique compass-star button reminiscent of old maps and nautical navigation. Adorned with our signature faceted cut-steel rivets, it carries just a hint of sparkle—the kind of tiny flash that once shimmered in candlelight.
Compass roses began appearing on nautical charts during the late Middle Ages, their radiating points helping sailors understand direction and plot a course across unfamiliar seas. Early portolan charts were drawn by hand on vellum, weaving precise coastlines and navigational lines together with richly ornamented compass roses, ships, flags and imagined sea creatures. They were practical instruments, but also extraordinary works of art.
Every beautifully timeworn detail has been preserved through lost-wax casting. Graphic, celestial and quietly symbolic, the Compass Rose Star is a little piece of cartographic history—and a tiny talisman for finding your own way.
