WILDFLOWERS Vintage Charm Necklace - Silver

Our botanical antique button necklace is cast in solid sterling silver from a Victorian button from our family collection. This elegant relief-work stylized floeal button celebrates the Victorian love of flowers and gardens. According to the Victorian language of flowers for courtship and love, snowdrop symbolized purity and hope. 

With this design, we celebrate Jane Eleanor Datcher, a botanist and the first Black woman to graduate with a degree from Cornell University. Her research involved a species of Anemone flower, a relative of the buttercup. In addition to her scientific contributions she was involved with the Colored Women's League, and 1892-founded club for educated African American women.
